Drinks, dinner and dessert are $50 if you act now and say you’re coming to the Yellow Dog Cafe at 6 p.m., Nov. 2. It will be a fun-filled evening at an unforgettable location along the Intracoastal Waterway in Malabar.

Where: Yellow Dog Café (Look at this deck we have all to ourselves!) in Malabar, near Melbourne
When: Registration is at 6 p.m. Dinner is served at approximately 7 p.m.
Why: First of all, you’ll know the winners first. You’ll eat great food (chicken, filet mignon, or a vegetarian option upon request), listen to a great speaker we’re flying in, and network with journalists, editors, artists, designers and photographers from around the state.
Attire is semiformal/dressy casual, meaning no jeans please, but you can come without a tie!

Please join us for a celebration of the best in Florida journalism. You’ll be in great company at the Florida Press Club’s annual Gala Celebration at 6 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Yellow Dog Cafe. You’ll enjoy this incredible location on the Intracoastal Waterway in Malabar along with a great selection of entrees. No rubber chicken, we promise!
The dinner is $50 per person, and includes cocktail hour, appetizers, dinner and dessert.
Of course we’ll be presenting the awards from the press club’s 2013 Excellence in Journalism Competition.

The deadline for the Florida Press Club Excellence’s in Journalism Competition is drawing nigh!
It’s August 15.
This is a venerable tradition — brought to you by your fellow laborers in that journalistic vineyard. And now it’s online!

Entries must have been published or produced in Florida or transmitted from Florida by a wire service between June 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013. The same item may be entered in multiple categories.
Membership in the Florida Press Club, $20 per person, is required and each new entry requires an additional $15 fee. Entries into the Lucy Morgan In-Depth Reporting Award and Frances DeVore Award for Public Service are $25.
Most writing, photography and illustration categories call for up to three samples of work per entry. See details on other categories because up to five samples and a written description may be requested.
